Scott and Scott Inc. Home Inspections Company Profile:

The Scott family has been providing quality objective and reasonably priced residential home inspections since 1996 with pride and professionalism.  We are a family owned and operated business.  Scott and Scott Inc. is owned by George Neil Scott (who prefers to be called Neil) and Valerie Scott, husband and wife, who have been in the real estate business since 1993.  G. Neil Scott has done every one of his own inspections since 1996 and is always there for any questions at any time in the present or future for his clients.  Our oldest son, Neil, is now a home inspector intern and plans to continue the family tradition of providing the same great quality home inspection services while completing his goal of becoming a fully licensed home inspector this year.  We are located in the city of Stamford, (Fairfield County) Connecticut.  Our goal is to provide top-quality and objective home inspections while keeping our prices reasonable and affordable. Inspection reports are always ready at the end of the inspection.  We carry professional liability insurance, errors and omissions insurance, and workmen's compensation insurance.  We are also happy to say we have thousands of satisfied clients with a steady number of repeat clients.

Call Scott and Scott Inc. For your home inspection needs and you'll always talk to one of the owners!

About George Neil Scott: Looking for a home inspector?  Inspecting homes for 18 years and still going strong, George Neil Scott is a Connecticut licensed and insured, trusted and reputable home inspector, Connecticut state license number #HOI.314. Neil is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors ASHI.ORG which is an organization whose rigorous requirements far surpass those of the state's for testing and continuing education.  Neil combines the highest technical home inspection skills with superior customer service to provide the "ASHI experience" to his clients.  He also currently serves on the Board of Directors and is past President (2008-2009) and past Vice President (2007-2008) of the Coastal Connecticut Chapter of ASHI (Coastal CT ASHI).  When "shopping" or comparing prices for a home inspector or home inspections services, remember to verify that your home inspector is currently state licensed.  Unfortunately, there are people who claim to be "licensed" home inspectors and either are not licensed or have let their license lapse, you should ALWAYS VERIFY ANY LICENSE NUMBERS with the Connecticut State Department of Consumer Protection (DCP of CT).  (Tip: HOI identifies licensed home inspectors, HOP identifies home inspector interns who are still serving apprenticeships under other licensed home inspectors).  Not all home inspectors are ASHI CERTIFIED.  Always verify that they are, just check it out at www.ashi.org

Why Should You Hire Us?

Advice on price shopping:  You may save a few dollars now by hiring another company, but is it really worth it?

Home BuyersWhy should you hire a licensed, experienced, insured and well-qualified home inspector, like G. Neil Scott, to perform your home inspection?  Because your home is probably the largest investment you will ever make.  Wouldn't you want and need to know about any past, current, or even future problems or defects with the home that might cost you thousands of dollars in repairs now or in the future? We, at Scott and Scott Inc., think you would, and we realize a good home inspection and home inspection report are extremely important to today's informed home buyers.  Most homeowners do try to maintain their homes as best they can, but most homeowners do not go or check where Neil will to learn about a home's structural, electrical, and mechanical integrity. Neil pay's special attention to areas like attics, basements, and crawl spaces (which are tiny areas under a home and are sometimes only accessible if you literally "crawl" into them).  Neil is specially trained to know exactly what to look for during a home inspection.  Neil uses specialized tools for testing carbon monoxide levels, tools for probing areas where moisture and insect damage may be, tools for determining electrical problems, high powered lights, and binoculars.

Home Sellers Why should you hire a licensed, experienced, insured and well-qualified home inspector, like Neil Scott, to perform your "pre-sale" home inspection?  Because wouldn't it be worth your while to eliminate renegotiating your sales price after the buyer has an inspection.  What if your perspective buyer hires an unlicensed and unqualified home inspector?  To eliminate many of the "what if" scenarios, having a "pre-sale" inspection is the first step to marketing your home to buyers.  It will also help you to accurately complete your seller's disclosure.  There will be fewer, if any, surprise issues that may arise after the potential buyer has their own inspection.

For your information...Before beginning any inspection, a Connecticut State licensed home inspector should be asking you to review and sign the Connecticut Home Inspection Licensing Board (provided by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection) disclosure regarding home inspections and what the inspector is required to do.  This document is required by the state to be given to everyone who hires a home inspector to protect you, the consumer.

At the end of your home inspection with Scott and Scott, you will be provided with a detailed and descriptive professional report of your inspection's findings as well as recommendations for improvements in a tabbed binder which will easily reference each part of the inspection.  The binder also includes a detailed guide on "how to operate" your home.

Home inspections can be performed for buyers, sellers, landlord, tenants, and current homeowners.  Even if you're considering renovating your home or have done so and would like the work inspected, hire Scott and Scott Inc. to get the job done.

We offer reasonable and competitively priced home inspections for single and multi family homes, condominiums, cooperatives and we inspect residential rental properties too.

Shouldn't you have a home inspection with Scott and Scott Inc.?

Our main goals are to educate our clients about the property they are considering buying, selling, leasing, or renovating and uncovering any defects and/or problems before they proceed with the process. We do the best we can to ensure our clients' home is safe and they are happy with our services.  Scott and Scott Inc. has saved many homeowners money and stress by finding items which needed repairing or replacing prior to their purchasing the home we inspect or giving them a heads up on what they may need to repair or replace in the near future in their new home. We also help home sellers by uncovering problems or defects they were not aware of prior to the sale of their home.  These problems can be either fixed or disclosed which saves home sellers and buyers time on renegotiating the sale price of the home.  We save our clients valuable time by providing them with a timely report customized to the specific home they are purchasing or selling.  We do everything we can to ensure the home is free of unsafe defects and problems before our clients buy or sell a home.  We take great pride in making our clients happy by providing sincere, honest services with integrity and dependability during a stressful time in their lives -- whether they are purchasing, selling, leasing or renovating a home or condominium.
